How do I configure IB's Traders Workstation? To fully take advantage of the Trade Processor and Interactive Brokers Traders Workstation you must add a little configuration. Open the Traders WorkStation software program.

New TP 1.1 The TP automatically starts and eventually logs into TWS. This takes a long time .. and any mouse / kbd use will cause the TP autologin to fail. Once logged in, My TWS always has a pop-up msg. The TP seems to hang until I manually clear the TWS popup. So .. 1) TP needs to be able clear any TWS popups that occur. 2) TWS auto-start TWS/login feature should be optional.

1) If the CAP LOCKS is on, TP 1.1 will send the username/password in inverse caps and IB will not log in. 2) If IB is already running, TP should not try to run a second instance Thanks Bill

Since I downgraded IB Trader Workstation to the version compatible with TP 1.x, I can log into my demo IB account, but can not log into my real account anymore. When entering the real user name/password and clicking on Login, nothing happens.

Ryan, Yes. TP opens IB and connects to the demo account. The problem is that when I close TP and IB and try to re-open IB on my real account it doesn't work now.

The TWS Portfolio tab is empty, whereas the IB account page and the trade Processor agree there should be six long positions. John [Edited by John W on 11/9/2012 5:01 AM] ![]()

John, There appear to be 8 open positions on the TP page and only 6 on the TWS Account page. If you are looking at the TP "Broker Position" tab, that would mean two positions missing on the TWS "Accounts" page. If you are looking at the TP "Open Position" tab, the difference may be explanable. No positions on the TWS "Portfolio" page is a glitch. Reqwesting IB to change the amount in your "Simulated Trading" account from the default one million could be the cause. The process takes 24 hours and use of TWS during that time is problamatic. I hope this helps.

Fred, Thank you very much for taking the time to try to help me. What I've since worked out is that this problem was confined to one PC, it was not the TP or the TWS but some peculiarity in the installation on one PC. I've since run up two other PC's and they do not have this problem. I’ve since fixed the issue by completely uninstalling the TWS, and MOST IMPORTANTLY then DELETING the folder C:\JTS. If the c:\JTS folder is not deleted the problem continues. Restart and then reinstall the TWS from scratch and then everything works fine. John

Good to know how you fixed the problem. I'll store it away in case I run into the same glitch.

John, I have been presented with the same TP Error Notice. If you haven't already tried it, and assuming you have an additional IB account besides your "Simulated Trading" account, allow the TP to open your "Simulated Account" TWS before you open any others.

Angela, the last build that I am aware of and have installed is time stamped November 7. Is that the latest?

Angela, Yes I'm running the latest version from last Friday. I've tried TWS open and TWS closed before starting TP. I've tried restart. I've tried again just now. Issue still exists. John

Angela, I've worked out that the issue exists on my existing PC, the one I've had trouble with before. I tried the TP on a PC that has not had any useage before, and it syncs just fine. Later in the day, I'll uninstall and reinstall the TP on my exising PC causing the trouble, and let you know the result. John

Fred, that is not the latest build. The latest is time-stamped 11-9. Here is the link to install it. Just install over what you have. Trade Processor Alpha 1.2 Installation Note: This install has the same file name as prior installation.

Barry, I have tried an install of the version posted on your 220780 thread (11/12 3:52 PM) over the previous version -- no connect to IB. My last effort of the day was an uninstall of TP followed by a re-install of your latest. Will try a connect tomorrow morning. Maybe after TP has a good night's sleep, it will have a better attitude.

I started running OV and the latest TP and IBG last week and it started placing trades this week. On 7/18 a buy for AMZN was placed 20:00 and it was promptly cancelled by IB. 20 min later, I resubmitted the order and it took. I moved my submission time back 5 min to 20:05 just in case IB was balking at the 8 pm submission. On the 20th, 7 long positions on 5 symbols were placed at 01:00. Not sure why those orders were placed so late, rather than at 20:05, but 4 of the positions against 2 symbols were cancelled at 07:01:55 by IB. The sum of all positions, including two that were being closed, would be 90% of equity. It might be worth noting that the 4 positions rejected were submitted as two per symbol, thus with a net 20% per symbol. Questions: Was there a reason the trades came out so late? Anyone have a clue why some of these trades would be rejected by IB? Now here's some more weired stuff. I have a second ROTH account (the wife's) and is is set up to trade the same portfolio of strats. It too had the 7/18 AMZN trade cancelled immediately after submission and I resubmitted with success. But on the 20th, only 4 positions on 3 symbols were submitted at 01:00. Two of those symbols were ones rejected by IB in the first account. But for this account, all the trades were held and traded in the morning. Questions: Why would there be significant differences in the trades submitted between two similar accounts running the same portfolio of systems? Why did these trades go through for symbols rejected in the other account? Is available equity somehow coming into play? [Edited by KC Kid on 7/20/2016 4:38 PM] ![]() ![]() ![]()

The IB servers are reset every night, causing TWS to close out, and the IB Gateway to close and restart. I wanted to observe the process, particularly with regard to OT and automated forex trading using an IBG. Called IB tech support: --The servers are shutdown between 2345 and 0045 EST. --The server reset process takes several minutes, usually <5' --But may take longer dependent on what maintenance is required. So automated trading of forex will have another 'hole' in the data to consider, on top of the ten minute Nirvana data 'hole' that occurs at about the same time (midnight-0010 EST = 11pm--1110 Nirvana CST). --Mark G.

KC Kid, in your TP, please click View/Log Files, highlight all the folders shown, then right-click them & select Send to -> Compressed/Zipped folder & attach or email the file. I'll try to take a look & see. Or you can contact IB support & ask them to look at your rejected trades & tell you why.

KC, FYI: I had successful R7 and R9 entries for MRK with IB on 7-20, one a Roth IRA account and another in a cash account. BTW, I have my Order Submission set for 9:20AM to 11AM, not for specific, empirical reasons related to Broker Rejects, but I very rarely get Broker Rejects from IB when using those times. Might try looking at trades through TWS too to review reject reason? [Edited by BrianD on 7/21/2016 5:19 PM] |
