The Server trade processor has been working flawlessly. Very pleased. But today the TP was going to close a trade on GMCR and I decided to take that trade off the "close" list by un-checking the box on GMCR. This is the first time I decided to tell the server controlled TP that I wanted to "Hold" that stock longer.

The TP told me that by un-checking the box that the trade to close the stock would not go through. OK, that's what I wanted.

As soon as the stock market opened ALL trades in the "close" tab were taken, including the GMCR close. Do we have the option of un-checking a trade function to stop it? It didn't happen this time. Any comments?

I'm looking into it. The intended behavior is that it should not have closed the trade. Can you tell me about what time it was when you unchecked GMCR?

Thanks for looking into this. I un-checked the box about 10 minutes before the market was to open.

Barry
I had a similar experience a few weeks ago - but the account has been reset since then. So, it might be hard to review.

My OV Dev3 Account was entering 3 trades on 8/24 that I decided to uncheck (market volatility). The three stocks were JBLU, NFLX, and VRX. I believe that I unchecked them on Sunday (8/23).

The stocks were purchased on the open on 8/24 - so it essentially ignored my changes. I couldn't get upset however (the three trades ended up with gains of 29.31%, 22.97%, and 9.90%).

So, I learned not to interfere with OV - but the changes were indeed ignored.

Bob, here is what happened in your case:

1. Your submission start time is at 9:20AM EST, so all your open & close orders were submitted then.
2. Shortly thereafter, but before market open, you unchecked GMCR, but you were a little late since the order already placed with your broker.

Had you unchecked it before 9:20 it would not have submitted the close order. Or after you unchecked it, you would've wanted to view the Broker Orders tab to see if any there were any outstanding orders sitting at the broker waiting to execute at market open that you didn't want. The Broker Orders tab is very useful as it will show you all unfilled orders sitting at your broker. I highly recommend using it especially when placing manual trades.

Now we do have an enhancement for this behavior coming soon in the next TP that will also cancel the broker order if it hasn't yet executed. With the new behavior in the above case, unchecking GMCR would also cancel the order at the broker.

It's happening again. I unchecked the closed tab for FSLR on 10/8/15 well ahead of the 9:20 EST transfer time, YET the trade was closed by the TP @ 9:53 on 10/8/15. I did not want it to close. Upsetting.

Today (10/11/15) I unchecked the trade to be closed FCX @ 9:00 and watched the TP. 9:30 opening time the trade did not close. I waited and watched. At precisely 9:52 (as I was watching) TP closed the trade even though it remained "unchecked".

Do I have to remove the TP from server duty in order to manually manage the trades? I like the server convenience of letting the server work, but if I want to manually STOP a trade, I need to know I have that ability. NOT HAPPY.

Barry I need your response.

Hi Bob,

Barry is on vacation this week which is why he has not responded. He will be back next Monday. I have reported this issue to our developer and they have made a change in OmniVest to correct the problem you ran into. We are testing the change and will let you know if this has solved the problem hopefully by tomorrow. Thanks for reporting.

We're looking into the issue, Bob. It sounds like a bug. One possible work-around might be to change your Order Submission End time to a time before 9:52EST, say 9:40EST. Or disable Automatic Exits & manually decide on your close orders each day until we resolve the issue.

Bob, this issue has been resolved & verified, so unchecked closing orders won't close after the morning executions.
