I was going to wait until at least the first patch of Win 7, but I really did not want to install Vista64 again, and then turn around and do a Win 7 install in a couple months. Vista64 is no picnic to install. Granted my system has 2 video cards supporting 6 monitors, so it isn't quite the norm . . . I started at noon and finished at 9 in the evening last night. It took 6 or so (I stopped counting at some point) installs of Win7 64 to get it right - no kidding. Once Win7 was installed with no glitches (learned NOT to install the manufacturer's Win7 current drivers or Win 7s own update to the graphic drivers it selected for my cards - that was 2 reinstalls) it has been running rock solid. OTP 09, VT5 & OmniScan installed without a hitch. The problem I was having with OmniScan resolved. All in all, installing Win7 was no worse than installing Vista64, but wait if you can for the traditional first SP. ALL of my install problems were related to getting my 2 video cards working correctly. If you take out the Video card issue, Win 7 64 would have installed the first time with no problems. Also, a big thanks to Ryan O and Jon G for all their efforts to get my problem fixed short of a reinstall of Windows. Nirv support rocks. Curtis [Edited by CoopC on 10/24/2009 5:05 PM] |
